Navarro is Back and Just in Time for the Postseason

Toronto — The biggest August¬†acquisition in the MLB may turn out to be Dioner Navarro who was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays just in time for the postseason run. Dioner Navarro was acquired in exchange for double-A LHP Colton Turner.

Who did we give up?

Colton Turner is a 25-year-old Left-Handed Pitcher who has played his entire career in the minor league system for the Jays. He has pitched in 44 games this year for Lansing, Dunedin, and New Hampshire and has a 3-1 record with a 1.33 ERA. Turner has pitched to a 5.23 ERA in New Hampshire this year.

Who did we get?

Many people may remember Dioner Navarro, well he is back! Navarro was the starting catcher for the White Sox with a .210 batting average and a .267 OBP in 85 games. He proved to be a very important piece last year as he helped Estrada to a 3.13 ERA, along with being a very important hitter off the bench.

In the end, the trade was definitely a good one as it gives the Jays some depth at the catcher position for the postseason run. Navarro will be on the playoff roster, and will replace Thole. They will both be on the roster for September as the rosters will expand. Turner is a small price to pay for someone who has hit and caught Jays pitchers well in his 2014-2015 Jays stint. Jays win this trade. What do you think?
