Jonathan Bernier stopped all 38 shots and kept the Detroit Red Wings off the scoreboard for the duration of the game.
Bernier picked up his twelfth shutout, leading the Leafs to a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
”I felt great from the get-go,” Bernier said. ”We felt we dominated this game from the start and we wanted it.”
The Maple Leafs’ Michael Grabner came in on a breakaway and was hauled down by Danny DeKeyser with 30 seconds left in the second period. Mrazek made the save, but as Grabner slid into the net, the puck went with him.
After a review, the goal was overturned and was deemed legal. It was Grabner’s first goal since Jan. 2.
The Leafs played well and put a lot of pressure on the Red Wings all game. They forced turnovers and used their speed to their advantage. The Leafs have a very bright future.
