Raptors Edge Heat in Overtime

Two of the best teams in the East matched up on Saturday when the Miami Heat travelled to Toronto to face the Raptors.

The Heat played without Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade and still managed to send the Raptors to overtime. The Heat were led by Joe Johnson who scored 28 points, while grabbing 4 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.

The Raptors played without Demarre Carroll who has been out since December. The Raptors were led by DeRozan who scored 38 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists.

DeRozan spoke to the media after the game.”No, I’m more upset I missed three free throws,” he said of his 7-for-10 performance in overtime. “It irks me but it was a fun game tonight. We fought hard for the win and it was a great game.” Toronto went 32-38 from the free throw line tonight.

Jonas Valanciunas had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Kyle Lowry chipped in with 16 points for the Raptors, who won the season series against the Heat for the second straight season, as well as a playoff tiebreaker should they finish with the same record. Toronto had better defense on Saturday holding their opponent to 37.8% shooting from the floor.

The Raptors played hard, had a well-deserved win and moved to 44-20 on the season. They currently sit 2 games back of Cleveland for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors play their next game on Monday against the Chicago Bulls.
